FINAL POST + VIDEO

The journey has come to an end for this blog, this video showcased a 3-point shooting contest. But score was not considered, because everybody's a winner ;). Anyway, each member contributed equally and we decided to split blog posts up between the 3 of us. The video was decided between the three of us and each person was recorded. We found wikispaces to be an unexciting place to collaborate due to how bland the site looked and essentially swayed away from it.

REPORT for YI FAN :)

The topic of our blog is the NBA and everything this encompasses from individual players, teams both old and new, and most importantly the post season playoff series. This blog topic being about the NBA creates a large audience to be drawn from a global scale as the game is played and recognized internationally. Any age group, gender, religious and political views are not involved as the game itself does not discriminate, thus creating a community to share a commonality. As the blog will be a platform to share the sport, the finalized layout is done to decrease vector and misinterpreting lines to instead opt for a more simplified text, followed by text structure with all the foot headers, links to other various things such as archives and dates, at the end of the blog to allow a simulating and aesthetic appeal to the blog.

In regards to the blog being shared it had its benefits, disadvantages and challenges. The blog benefitted from having members who all shared the same taste in basketball, but this also became a challenge to overcome due to differences. As with any sport, there comes to a degree of bias when it comes to talking or writing about a specific team. This showed in the final blog posts as within each post, excluding not showing stats, contain some basis of bias when it comes to revealing information. We benefitted from having a small group only containing three members, we were able to communicate efficiently when needed, but this too was a challenge as allocating jobs was easy to delegate, but also was easy to be mismanaged as with each member slacking off hoping that others would motivate them and report with progress. Instead of contacting and keeping in contact to as the progress of each of our sections, slacking off and becoming unmotivated, or just simply forgetting, made the running of the blog less efficient. Group meetings itself was a problem as each member had a busy schedule along with other uni and life commitments. These problems and challenges are only considered minor however as they could easily be managed and resolved through communication and motivation.

The game of basketball, and specifically the NBA has a wide range of blog ranging from pure facts, news and bias team based blogs. This makes comparing our blog to the NBA’s official blog, Hangtime, the most prominent and obvious choice. The content of Hangtime is far superior than our blog due to their direct source of knowledge and information, being the first to receive news and content. As most content starts from this site and is used by others it would be the first source for main NBA enthusiasts. Its layout is similar as the content and information is on the main centre, being the focal point for information to be seen. As we have our foot headers and extra external links at the bottom of the page, Hangtime has it on the sides for easier access. This is a clear distincition as ours is placed due to our level of content not up to par with theirs. If we were to have a greater supply of information in order to be processed, the side bar would be the better choice. Hangtime’s level of content and being the official blog means the language is sophisticated and dense with information. Our blog would be a considered a low level blog in comparison to the NBA’s official blog, however our blog is better suited for the everyday NBA follower, due to its use of jargon and overall urban aesthetic and culture.

Space Jam 2?

Space Jam the movie starring Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes family that incorporated basketball and cartoons into one making it a fun film for the family. The plot is that Michael Jordan loses his basketball abilities to a group of monsters, so he and the looney tunes verse the monsters in a game of basketball to save the world. Now their is a sequel to this film with a new NBA star to be starring as the main character. Lebron James is said to be the new star in Space Jam 2.

NBA Logo

The NBA's logo is an iconic image well known throughout the world. It was inspired by a legend none other than Jerry West who revolutionised the game of basketball. He was given the name Mr. Clutch for his amazing performances throughout his years in the league. However after the NBA's logo been put in place for so long, their is rumour for a change into the new NBA logo for which a new design could be put in place. Who will be the new inspiration for the new logo? Rumours suggest Lebron James being the face of the new logo or perhaps even Michael Jordan but time will tell if this logo change will come into place.

Mascot Battle

Although the NBA is solely about the players and the game of basketball, we cant forget the icons that make each and every NBA team a great symbol for the league: the mascots. Crunch the Wolf is a great mascot for the Minnesota Timberwolves who engages the audience with his somewhat amazing howls. Another NBA mascot that is well known is Benny the Bull for the great Chicago Bulls as well as The Coyote from the San Antonio Spurs. At the all star games, the mascots gather to encourage their respective all star players for the win and the title of best mascot.

Allen Iverson - The Answer!

Allen Iverson was the number 1 pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1996 NBA Draft coming in at 6 ft (180 cm). One of the smallest guards in the league with one of the biggest impacts towards the game of basketball. He inspired many young and small ballers with his strong heart and determination. He averaged 31.4 points per game in his prime year with the 76ers and received the MVP award. He even lead his team to game 7 against the Toronto Raptors matching up with the infamous Vince Carter to win in the playoff semifinals. Both Carter and Iverson were going at it in all games both dropping big numbers to counter each other.

Farewell Black Mamba

It was like yesterday when Kobe Bryant was drafted straight out of Lower Merion in the 1996 NBA Draft. He was picked 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets, but was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe's career highlights and achievements.

In his final game he scored 60 points to lead his team to victory over the Utah Jazz. Now that he is retiring it seems like the end of an era.
